House of Wonders
Built in 1883 as a largely ceremonial palace for the second sultan of Zanzibar, it is the largest and tallest building of Stone Town. It was the first building in Zanzibar to have electricity, and the first building in East Africa to have an elevator. It now houses the Museum of History and Culture. The view is from the second floor of the Palace Museum, dedicated to the history of Zanzibar's royal family.
