The Island/Continent of Madagascar has many endemic fauna and flora. It has been separated from other land for something like 165 million years, giving evolution time to work.
Maroantsetra is a market town on the bay of Antongil on the east coast of Madagascar. Most easily accessible only by boat, it is near the mouth of the Antenambelana River. Nearby are the island of Mangabe (Nosy Mangabe, the"big blue island") and Masaola National Park, both spectacular nature reserves.
